Day 60/365 - This Says It All

Day 59/365 - It's a Family Type of Love

And we just need to keep reminding ourselves of that.

Because that love transcends all things.

Like a magical unicorn.

Or some other mystical pirate creature.

Really, today was tough. The rainy day made everyone's nerves short.
So. Short.

And I was ready to maybe make a CraigsList ad for the littlest.

Until he finally napped.

Because then he became all angelic on my lap.

Best part of the day.

Second best was this:

Until he wet his pants, waiting for his sister to come take our family photo.
And his shoes, socks, and shirt.
(Because we don't do things half assed!)

What. A. Day.

Day 58/365 - A Day In New Haven

This morning, we dropped A. off at Yale for a day of classes.

At 8:20am, this is what happens when I ask them to look at me. I think Banana Bob came the closest.
(Banana Bob is the stuffed sheep.)
*this is possibly my favoritest of all photos.

I took EJ to the Peabody Museum to see the dinosaurs...

And even included myself in a selfie with a dinosaur foot sculpture!

Some more photos from our day:

We took A. to lunch on her hour break.

EJ loved all the fossils we saw!

He also enjoyed the cocoa at Blue State Coffee while we waited for A.'s program to finish.

And a rainy day post-lunch snapshot on Crowne Street!

We Were Cold. Wet.

And it was a great day for all of us!

Day 57/365 - SURPRISE!

I tried to change things up. I requested surprised faces tonight.

and
were the results.

This was the subsequent conversation:

Me: "You're such a pain in my @$$."
A.: <smirk>
EJ: "We don't say that word!"
A.: "Yeah. You're being naughty."
EJ: "Yes! She's right! A. is actually right!"
Me: "First time for everything?"

All in good fun, though!

My goodness, no wonder that boy is so loud...

Day 56/365 - Nicky Garlic's!

A couple of months ago (has it really been that long??) one of our favorite people took a job a few towns away - meaning that we wouldn't be seeing Nicky nearly as often as we were used to.
The kids and I attempted to visit him one afternoon, but he wasn't working. Tonight, A. got EJ to ask to go to Joey Garlic's for dinner. Not going to lie - the extra distance was daunting. Thursdays always find me exhausted by the time I get home. But Nicky wasn't answering my texts - which meant he was probably working.

So, we journeyed.

By the way, I have the entire movie (songs AND dialogue) of Frozen now memorized from constantly playing in the car. This makes car drives seem about 3-4xs longer than they actually are. Except when Olaf exclaims, "Happy Snowman!"

And we got to see our Nicky.

And we were happy.

Except for all our crankiness.

Because that's how we roll.

And even though I took a bunch of photos, these were the best I got.

EJ was very proud of having photos taken in which he was poking his own eye.

And, upon arriving home, A. went straight to bed. EJ is about to pop into the bath. And I'm lamenting the time between now and bedtime. It's a Thursday!

Day 55/365 - A Good Day for All!

While our morning was a little rough, the day ended up pretty great.

A. curled her hair - and we had big plans!

We may have left Mr. EJ with Grandpa - and enjoyed a girls night at the Bushnell.

But we corralled him into a family photo before we left!

And even got this gem:

"Cheesy cheese!"

Day 53/365 - La Resistance

It's amazing how resistant each of us is to photos right before bedtime.

In our own ways...

But today also had some highlights:

EJ and I went to see Muppets Most Wanted.

I finished the little scarf I was making for him.

And it was generally a good day.

Day 52/365 - Sometimes Our Posts Aren't Happy

At dinner tonight, someone wanted to play under the table (which got him in trouble) and someone else decided, despite being warned at our last meal, that being on her phone at the dinner table was a good idea (which got her phone taken away).

So tonight's photo was not the happiest of photos.

Thankfully, we're conditioned from a young age to smile at cameras - so the actual scowls and glares from the evening didn't quite make it into the photo - but this is us, the real us, after a bit of a rough meal.

Day 51/365 - The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway

We're all hanging out in the minivan, watching Frozen, while eating a late dinner at Sonic - and that's great!

EJ and I survived our night apart. In fact, he was totally cool with it. I didn't cry myself to sleep, so it was a win all around.

My morning looked something like this:

And this:

While the kids were probably still asleep at home. Slackers.
FYI - when it's less than thirty degrees at 6am in March, walking down to the beach in pajamas and a scarf is NOT smart. It's cold. COLD.

After a great morning and afternoon, concluding with a fabulous final walk along the beach and the gathering of MUCH seaglass, we returned home ...

Just in time to take A. to her wall climbing adventure!

And EJ tagged along to spend some quality family time:

And after we finish our dinner, it is time for home and bed!

Day 50/365 - Another Separation

For the first night since EJ was released from the NICU, we are spending a night apart. We cosleep, so this is a huge thing for me - and he wasn't thrilled with the prospect either.

But I get to enjoy this:

Yes - that's my selfie from the balcony of my room.
I'm looking forward to an early rising and walk on the beach before breakfast.

And I left for this excursion before A. got home from school today - so while I snapped this photo of EJ this afternoon, I have none of his sister.

I did, however, think ahead this morning - around 5am.

Bam. Dedication to the project and to documenting ALL the facets of our family's life.

Day 49/365 - A Bit of Pony Power

Today I got my My Little Pony tattoo. In support of www.michaelmorones.org and taking a stand against bullying, a local tattoo studio has been doing MLP tattoos and sending the proceeds to this family. It's become much bigger than they imagined (they thought it'd be about 100 tattoos over the course of the month - but it's now looking more like 3-400).
Counting down to my pony appointment was the center of my day.

But wasn't the whole day.

A. was at school, but EJ and I had Italian ice in celebration of the first day of spring.

He also got some nifty sneakers (as he has lost one sneaker from all the pairs that fit him).

And then it was pony time!

Twilight Sparkle is EJ's favorite pony.
Derpy is A's favorite pony.
Sleeping peacefully is my favorite state of both A. and EJ.

And tonight we had a quick photo before bed. Yeah, a staged selfie - but I'm also realizing that some days pull us all in different directions, so a nightly selfie may be the only time we have a photo opportunity.
