Days 118-119/365 - And Again

The past week and a half have been pretty crazy for our family. My dad (Grandpa) was in the hospital twice, for a total of a week. The first visit began with an ambulance trip from golf; the second with me getting to make a 911 call instead of going to church.
Grandpa is a rock in our family - so all that put a big stress on us all. In addition, the month of May is my busiest in terms of working. Two overlapping seasonal jobs mean that I log between 70 - 80 hours in a week. Without my dad being able to babysit, it was - again - pretty crazy.
This, on top of a 4yo acting out because he's worried about his best buddy (Grandpa) meant...

Net result = my brain is fried.

Grandpa is doing well.
EJ is still pretty wild, but doing a bit better.
A. is her usual teenaged self.
And I fell asleep in the middle of working last night. I definitely needed the rest - but I never got around to photographing any of us.
Guilt ensued.
It wasn't like I'd kept myself out of any family photographs, though. I just hadn't photographed our madness.
(Except dinner. I took a photo of dinner because bleu cheese and avocado and yum.)
I did get a snapshot of A. before school.

She's loving braids.

But I made sure that tonight we snapped a bunch of shots. I'm still bone tired. A is still her teenaged self. EJ is oh so EJ.
And we documented it all.

And the photo that best demonstrates our day:

Days 116 & 117/365 - Our Minds Have Been Elsewhere

And so I forgot to post yesterday:

Watching for the school bus.

Today, I remembered.

Day 114/365 - A Good Day! At Last!

Happy kids for most of the day.
Semi-productive mom, too!

And possible smiles in a family selfie before bed???

Love and laughter
     -  and all of us in the picture.

Day 113/365 - Today

We're still muddling through.
Also, free for shipping, one 4yo EJ.

Day 112/365 - Some Days Are Harder Than Others

So my father has been in the hospital for past few days. He thankfully did not have a heart attack, but after an "episode," he was being monitored and had what I think they said was a tachyarrhythmia.
So, he's been there, which has added "hospital visit" to our daily stuff.
And has been pretty stressful to everyone. (He's doing okay and is slated for surgery tomorrow.)

A. and I have been worried; EJ has been scared and misses his buddy.

And so our days have been a bit more difficult lately. The stress, the addition to the routine, the lack of Dad/ Grandpa has taken their toll.

Someone has been acting up.
Someone has been moody.
Someone has been distracted.

Or maybe we've all been all three.

So even photo time is distracted and rushed.
Grandpa isn't too thrilled with the idea of photos in hospital garb.
And once home, we're all in our own worlds.

I'm not sure any of us were really "present" today. But even our distraction gets to be documented. And maybe we're all present through that?

Day 111/365 - The Sky is Tired!

After an exhausting day, some quick photos.

We dragged A.'s dad into our family selfie, as he'd shown up towards the end of our fire.

Day 109/365 - Comfortable In Our Selves.

Tonight, as I rallied the kids for a quick photo, I was struck with how much easier it is now - compared with the wrangling at the beginning of this project. EJ looks forward to photo time. A. actually smiled without being coerced tonight. We are happy with our selves, our beings, our images. <3

Day 108/365 - Fun in the Sun

Our day of fun included a bunch of selfies.

We included the trolley attendant, too!

And the girls, too!

And some final photos from the day:

Day 106/365 - Back In Black?

I spent most of the day working - both out of the home and from home.
Again, A. was at school.
EJ spent the day with Grandpa.

All of us had our own things going on today - and so were present for own lives.
After dinner, after all my working was done, as everyone wound down for the night, we reconnected. We took a moment to be with each other - even if that moment revolved around taking a quick photo.

Or a few...

And no.
No offspring were damaged in the taking of these photos.

(and yes our coordinating black tops were accidental)
