Day 96/365 - A Routine?

It almost feels like it.

And that routine revolves around:

Legos. All. Day. Long.

We were both involved!

EJ's newest build (that is, Mama builds it, photographs it, and hands it over to be played with until it's unrecognizable): a logging truck!

My build: a windmill castle. With an extra long doorknob.

And again - this is what lots of Legos lead to...

And I have to add these photos from dinner. Because of weird scheduling this evening, we ended up dining at our favorite wings place. And EJ was in rare form.
For a limited time only, though!

(This is what we got to dine with tonight.)

But EJ was replaced as we were getting ready to leave. His doppelgänger - secret identity (?), Raccoonie, came home with us and chose to be a part of today's family photo:

(That's Raccoonie's mask, not a BWW hat like you might think.)

Sometimes I feel badly that A. doesn't figure as prominently in our photos. However, she doesn't protest the daily family photo - and I know she's not a fan of photos. So for now, that's why our photos are the way they are (well, also she's gone at school for 10 hours a day, so there's that). Hopefully she'll be more amenable towards photos this summer.

Day 95/365 - A Day of Rest?

I got to say this sentence today:
"And why were you chewing on the gas pump?"

But really, today was good.
The sunrise was lovely today:

But looking to the west at sunrise offered this lovely sky, too:

There was Cinco de Mayo goodness at lunch:

And we were both there:

Hello, burrito!

And EJ got all decked out to try his new scooter:

And then refused to scooter. It was too scary. We'll try again tomorrow?

But overall, today was low key - at least, compared to the past few days. We planted some veggies and herbs, drew with chalk on the sidewalk, cooked dinner as a family.

And tonight, after knitting, this was us:

And this is us as we often are at the end of the day - content after a good day filled with good things.

Day 94/365 - Star Wars Day!

May the 4th be with you.

Today has been a day for EJ - though A. and I have rather enjoyed it as well.

After church was Jedi training.

Star Wars lego building.

And then we all curled up with the DVDs.

I have no photos of that.

But we did snap a family photo after lunch:

... and now it's time to start The Empire Strikes Back!

Day 93/365 - My Baby Turned Four Today

Riddle me that one.

He's my baby.
He's four.

Four years ago, this:

This morning, this:

And it was a BIG day.

While I was at work this morning, he and A. got up and ready and Grandpa took them to the public library for a Free Comic Book Day celebration.
Yes, our library is awesome.
There were oodles of super heroes and even some villains there for photos.
And contests.

And EJ, my little Spider-Man fan, was terrified. When I got there, he was refusing to even go in the room.

So this was the best photo we got.

I wanted one of just him and Spidey. Because I was holding him, I asked to be deliberately left out. Not to hide that I was there, but because I wanted a photo of him and Spider-Man.
And that's okay - I don't NEED to be in every photo.

When I want to be documented, I do this:

Yes, I declared selfie time at A.'s banquet and got myself, her, and two of her friends. Boo. Yah.
These girls are so great.

And I got lots of photos of the evening:

EJ occupying himself.

A demonstrating a confidence I wish I had at her age.

A. and her class.

A. and her class being photo bombed by our minister.

EJ out cold in our church library.

EJ's happy birthday cupcake.

And me with my kids.
My thirteen year old daughter and my four year old son.
After a day full of celebration.

Day 92/365 - My Hundredth Blog Post!!

As you can tell from the title, I guess I wasn't too good about regular blogging before I gave myself this challenge...

Oh well!

Today was so full of... stuff!

A morning drive in to the city, to take A. to school:

Our facial expressions pretty much say it all.
Fun and games with friends:

 They're pretty hardcore Lego gamers.

                                                  Look at them go!!

And speaking of Legos, look what EJ and I did today:

Which inevitably led to this:

knitting
and napping
and tea
and snuggles

a peaceful afternoon

A. was out doing her own thing after school - so our eventual reconnection didn't come until later this evening:

Not quite 100 photos to commemorate the 100th post, but close!

Day 91/365 - To Everything Turn Turn Turn

Today was the last classes of the semester for me. EJ accompanied me to finish up the semester.

Yes.
It devolved.

I also restarted my summer job this evening.

This is my much beloved cup. I only use it in the summer, though.

The day took a sad turn, though, when we learned of a friend's passing. My age and lung cancer are two things I was having trouble reconciling. Her two daughters, around A.'s age, now without a mother - still unimaginable, even though it's now reality.

All this while A. works feverishly on her 13 story board (which needs to be completed in the next day).

I was here, though.

I was at lunch with EJ.

And with both kids this evening as we worked on A.'s project and finishing up my classes.

Sometimes we may not be smiling - but I really appreciated tonight's photo together.
